Christian Education - The CE Committee oversees and directs Christian Education in our church. We organize Sunday School classes for youth and adults, special season study sessions (Advent and Lent), coordinate Vacation Bible School (mid June) and oversee nursery services and church functions for younger children and supervise the Youth Group. CE also supports confirmation class (Faith Exploration) for young people preparing to join the church.
Key activities of the CE Committee include:
-
Develop and supervise the educational program of the church on Sunday morning. We typically have Sunday School for pre-Kindergarden through adult (commonly two adult classes with different study styles and focus). Classes run from 9:45 to 10:45 on Sunday.
-
Supervise Nursery service for the youngest children during worship hour by our Nursery Director. Also we provide a Children's Church during part of the service hour for exploring what we do in worship with younger children (Elementary School age).
-
Develop and supervise any other educational programs of the church, such as study series for Advent or Lent.
-
CE also supports a Youth Group for teens, which meets two Sundays per month for fellowship and growth activities. Our Youth Group participates in outdoor activities such as hikes in the mountains and outings at the Life Adventure Center, singing carols at Christmas time to shut ins and also performs service projects such as yard work for our elderly members and visitations to shut-ins. Our youth also have organized and helped to lead service on several occaisions with assistance of the Pastor.
-
Be aware of and publicize educational programs for members of the church that are made available through Presbytery or seminaries. Make decisions about scholarships to camps and educational events.
-
We also oversee and support an annual Vacation Bible School for a week in the early summer. This year VBS will be June 13-16 at 530-730PM at the church. The theme is
Hometown Nazareth - Where Jesus Was a Kid (see
Registration Form).
-
CE also provides Bibles to children at appropriate stages of development and recognizes youth upon confirmation and graduation from High School.
-
Assist Worship Committee with administrative oversight of the Children’s Christmas Program
