POSITION DESCRIPTION: YOUTH PASTOR
 
 
OVERALL JOB DESCRIPTION: To provide an environment to develop friendships with other Christian youth, to provide an atmosphere for Youth to learn and deepen their faith in God/Jesus, to provide a format for service, and growth within the church and community, to enable Youth to grow as an individual towards an adult and to provide opportunities for recreation and activities.
 
 
ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable to the Pastor and Session in consultation with the Christian Education Committee. Establish goals and objectives with the Youth Council in conjunction with the Pastor. The Session is ultimately responsible for the fulfillment of all terms of employment.
 
DUTIES: 
 
  1. Plan Youth Group activities with other members of the Youth Council in accordance with church policy. Activities should be planned so there is a balance between faith enrichment, fun, fellowship, and service (to church and community).
  2. Attend monthly activity planning meetings with Youth Council.
  3. Conduct Youth Group Activities in accordance with all church policies and procedures.
  4. Work with the Youth Leaders of other churches as a way of expanding the opportunities available to members of the Youth Group.
  5. Conduct monthly dinner meeting; coordinate activities for this event other than the dinner with Youth Council.
  6. Prepare activity updates/announcements with assistance of lead contact person (if other than Youth Minister); and submit to CE Chair or Youth Council Chair for review, and approval and submission to the Church Secretary for inclusion in the newsletter/bulletin/website or communication to youth by Youth Council Secretary.
  7. Complete Youth Group Approval Activity forms and submit to CE Chair for approval in a timely fashion and in accordance with church policy. 
  8. Make home visits to families with Youth and children within Historic First Presbyterian Church (HFPC) to become better acquainted with HFPC members and to ascertain if there are specific family needs that should be addressed. 
  9. Be an active member of and regularaly attend the Christian Education Committee.
  10. Look for improved ways of performing the job. Be willing to suggest and initiate positive change to improve work outcome. Show willingness to continually improve self and performance.
  11. Perform job in a professional, business-like manner and always treat youth, parents and HFPC members in a courteous and respectful manner. Work cooperatively with co-workers, youth council, parents and youth to perform all tasks. Contribute to a congenial work environmental by encouraging and supporting coworkers, youth council, parents and youth.
