Purpose: To provide the means by which the members of the congregation are equipped for ministry, led to understand the meaning of scripture and the traditions of the church, and given opportunities for Christian nurture.
Membership: At least two members of the Session, the chair of the Youth Council, at least one Sunday School teacher, and other members of the congregation as needed to plan and share the work.

Duties:

Supervise and support of all the educational activities of the church.

Develop and supervise the educational program of the church on Sunday morning.

Develop and supervise any other educational programs of the church, such as ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /> VacationBible School, Confirmation Class, or study series for Advent or Lent.

Develop and supervise a program for youth.

Provide for a nursery (for ages birth – kindergarten) during regular hours of church school and worship, and other scheduled congregational events as needed.

Provide “Children’s Church” for children from 1st to 5th grade during worship.

Be aware of and publicize educational programs for members of the church that are made available through Presbytery or seminaries. Make decisions about scholarships to camps and educational events.

Provide an appropriate recognition to youth when they are confirmed and upon graduation from high school.

Provide Bibles to children at appropriate stages of development.

Assist Worship Committee with administrative oversight of the Children’s Christmas Program

Submit a budget each year to the Finance Committee.
