Stewardship and Finance

 

Purpose: To manage the finances of the church and develop in the congregation a spirit of joyful and generous giving of time, talent and treasure.

Membership: At least two members of the Session, the Church Treasurer, and two to four members of the congregation.

 

Duties:

- Encourage good stewardship of time, talent, and treasure

- Prepare the annual budget for approval by Session

- Interpret the budget to the congregation and encourage faithful giving

- Maintain a data base of time and talents of church members to match gifts and interests to opportunities to serve

- Provide secure procedures for the collection, counting and deposit of offerings, and their disbursement in accordance with the adopted budget

- Provide for an annual audit of the financial records of the church and report the results to the Session

- Provide a quarterly report of trust funds and memorials and any other bequests

- Provide a complete annual report of the church’s financial resources for publication to the congregation

- Recommend to Session each January a person to be elected as Treasurer for the year

- Evaluate special offering opportunities and recommend those that seem appropriate.

- Manage special funds, interest income and memorial contributions.
